30/3/2024 0 Comments March 30th, 2024The very popular EWPA issued Yellow card is getting a makeover from Early May 2024!
For trainees, it will be simpler to enrol, to ask for a Satement of Attainment and also to keep an electronic copy of your card on your phone! For trainers, it will help reduce the typing errors when we type trainees details. It will streamline the enrolment process. THE GOOD NEWS is most of the course content and the fee will be unchanged. So, if you use EWPs in your job or trade, let DAT Training help you improve your safety and efficiency via the yellow card program. At our venues, we regularly and routinely include the 4 main EWP types in our courses. In particular, scissor lifts and boom lifts! The 4 maintypes are: 1. Verttical Lifts (VL), sometimes also referred to as 'manlifts' 2. Scissor Lifts (SL), these may be battery, dielsel or hybred powered. We can train for all these. 3. Boom lifts (BL), yellow card holders are restricted to boom type lifts with less than 11m reach. 4. Trailer Lifts (TL), sometimes referred to as 'spider lifts'. For boom type trailer lifts, the 11m restriction applies The EWPA yellow card may also include training for Truck Mounted (TM) boom lifts. Again, the 11m restriction applies. At DAT Training we can train for this type as well, just ask. Truck mounted are typically used by tree loppers, some electricians and so on. For any boom type EWP that has a reach of 11m or more, a High Risk Work (HRW), Class WP licence is MANDATORY. DAT Training also offers these courses (usually 3 days). Please contact us for a 'no obligation' chat about what your training needs may be. Our main venue is at Hexham, but, subject to a few T&Cs, we also come to your site to deliver the above courses and many more. Phone or email, you may be pleasantly surprised by our fees and and our flexibility with accredted and non accredited courses.

4/1/2024 0 Comments Yellow card from EWPA will be easier to access/enrol.The preferred provider of the EWP operator ‘Yellow Card’ is undoubtedly the EWPA (Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia).DAT Training has two accredited EWPA trainers who can deliver traCurrently there is no High risk Work licence or similar required (mandated) for telescopic handler operators.
Employers (PCBUs) have 'duty of care' to ensure their employees (workers, including sub-contractors) are suitably trained and competent. The best option is to have the workers complete the Telescopic Handler Association of Australia (TSHA) training course known as the 'Gold Card'. The TSHA course is mapped to the RIIHAN309F National Unit of Competency and those successfully complete the training are issued a photo wallet card valid for 5 years. This is by far the preferred 'proof of competency' required by almost all builders, minesites and large organisations. The course duration is one day. Trainees can expect to learn knowledge and skills to safely operate telehandlers. The course content includes:
DAT Training offers this course on a regular basis, often weekly. We have our 'home venue' at Hexham but can deliver on your site subject to a few T&Cs. Please call or email for more information. Anyone requiring training or further information can call DAT Training or log onto the TSHA website on www.tsha.com.au 3/8/2022 1 Comment August 03rd, 2022On Thursday 11 and Friday 12 August we will run our first High Risk Work courses at the Somersby venue.
We have shortened the usual 3 day courses to just 2 days as we have small class sizes. On those 2 days we will offer HRW Forklift course which leads to the issue on Class LF licence. Places still available. Please call or email for more information or to enrol. EOFY is coming….Why not squeeze in some training as an expense before your tax return is due?
Traditionally many businesses squeeze in a few expenditure items just before EOFY. This is a legitimate way for some enterprises to reduce their tax payable if the items can be claimed as a business expense. Training for staff members is claimable and the courses we offer would be a great way to upskill your staff and maybe save a little money as well. As mentioned, traditionally many businesses choose this path so it’s best to book your training early to ensure it can be delivered and paid for before June 30. Visit our website or give us a call to see if any of our courses would be valuable or necessary for your staff or yourself. Pick and carry equipment like forklifts and walkie stackers have had battery powered options available for ages. Now even telescopic handlers are available! These all-terrain machines are extremely popular on construction and mining sites. Having an all-electric option may be just what some people have been waiting for. The manufacturers can rightly claim possible advantages such as:
Training for these electric options may be modified for plant specific knowledge but is essentially similar to standard operator training. DAT Training offers a range of courses for operators of EWPs, Forklifts and telescopic handlers. Visit our website, call us direct on 0408 817 598 or email [email protected] Walkie stackers and pedestrian operated lift trucks do not require a national HRW licence. However, employers (PCBUs) need to maintain training records and verification of competency for authorised operators. This course enables them to meet these requirements.
Our Training course offers comprehensive Theoretical and hands on Practical training/assessment delivered by accredited Trainers/Assessors. Trainees can expect to learn knowledge and skills to safely operate walkie stackers. The course content includes:
We come to you to deliver this training. We bring all training materials. You supply a room suitable for theory component and access to a suitable walkie stacker for practical component of the course including palletised load(s) that trainees can pick, carry and place. Your workers trained to use your walkie stacker. Cancellation fees may apply, travel fees may also apply. Please call to discuss. P: 0408 817 598 E: [email protected] |
